One of the disadvantages of Altera Quartus II software is the disability to run natively on a Mac system. Luckily there are ways to get around this problem. We are going to install Quartus on a Virtual Box that is running Windows 7. Virtual Box will also allow to pass through USB devices and will give us the possibility to attach Altera's USB. How do I repair disk permissions?
To repair disk permissions do the following:
- Open your Applications folder then your Utilites folder.
- Launch Disk Utility.
- Click on the icon for your hard drive in the list at the left.
- Click the First Aid tab.
- Click Verify Disk Permissions. Wait until it is complete.
- Click Repair Disk Permissions (the repair process may take a few minutes to complete).
- Quit Disk Utility
- Restart your computer.
